My Completely Honest LipSense Review

March 16, 2017 by Abby

Is it just a fad, or is it the best thing to happen to beauty products since waterproof mascara? Read my unpaid, Completely Honest LipSense Review to find out.

This may come as a shock to readers who know me in person because I am so not into makeup and beauty products. I don’t wear a whole lot of makeup, and I’ve especially never been into lipstick. So how does a former lip balm-addict feel about LipSense?

I’m glad you asked.

My Completely Honest LipSense Review

The Facts

LipSense is liquid lip color. It comes in a variety of shades and textures that are perfect for mixing, matching, and building your own custom colors. LipSense lasts between four and 18 hours (that number is much closer to 18+, in my experience) and restores moisture to your lips.

One thing I love about LipSense is that it naturally shields lips from the sun. Because it’s a non-wax liquid that protects the skin of your lips from exposure to elements, LipSense actually makes your lips softer with use.

When you’re first getting started with LipSense, you need to buy three products: a lip color, a gloss, and a remover. To apply the product, you put on three layers of color and finish with a layer of gloss.

The Good

Um, I actually wear it?

I never wore lipstick much for two reasons: my lips were always too chapped for it to look right and I didn’t have time to reapply several times throughout the day. LipSense solved both of those problems.

The product has healed my formerly-chapped lips. Part of that is some special secret of the LipSense formula, and part is because I make sure to apply Glossy Gloss when I’m not wearing a color.

5 favorite beauty products under $10

5 favorite beauty products for under $10 | winstead wandering

Those who know me are probably perplexed. “What business does she have writing a post about beauty products?”

It’s true. I don’t wear much makeup, my hair is pretty low maintenance, and I don’t use any fancy creams or serums. I’m going to suggest, though, that my no frills beauty routine makes me that much more qualified to write this post. If I only use a handful of products every day, each one must be pretty special to make the cut.

So even though I don’t spend too much time on my hair and makeup, I do know what products I like, and I’ve tried several different brands of most of those products, searching for the best.

fiber mascara

fiber mascara is as close to false lashes as you can get without the pain and hassle of the real thing | winstead wandering

I’m pretty sure I originally ordered this product by accident. I didn’t mean to add it to my cart from my phone, but then I forgot to remove it and checked out the next day. Best mistake ever. I love what this mascara does to my eyelashes. I’ve never worn false lashes, but I would guess this is as close to those as you can get with a mascara. I think I have pretty average lashes; they’re definitely there, but they need help. This mascara makes them look longer and fuller than any other brand I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot of different brands).

Note: the mascara works by attaching tiny little fibers to your lashes. For this reason, I would recommend not using it on your lower lashes, to avoid getting the fibers in your eyes. Also, as the reviews on the product suggest, you should follow up the fiber mascara with a coat or two of your regular mascara, to seal in the fibers.

coconut oil

coconut oil has a TON of uses, bus this post specifically talks about it as a way to clear up your skin | winstead wandering

Maybe this scenario is familiar to you: I didn’t have great skin in high school. I never had acne, but I struggled with breakouts and never could find a product or a skin care routine that cleared things up. My mom would say, “it’s your teenage hormones; you’ll grow out of it.” Fast forward through college and beyond. I never really grew out of it. My skin got much better, and there were times it even looked great, but breakouts were never completely behind me.
