Welcome to the first installment of What I’m Loving Wednesday, where I plan to share things that I’ve been loving lately. “Things” is a purposely generic term because I’ll be sharing pretty much anything that strikes my fancy: songs, food, beauty products, other blogs, photos, TV shows, clothes, books, quotes, articles. If I’ve liked it, it’s fair game to be included in a What I’m Loving Wednesday post.
Let’s begin, shall we?
zoya nail polish
I stopped by Ulta a few days after Christmas. I was all set to buy a new OPI polish when I discovered a bottle of Zoya polish on a clearance shelf. It was a nearly identical shade but half the price of the OPI. I bought it and just got around to using it. I painted my fingernails Monday night- while watching Oregon lose the National Championship- and now, two full days later, they’re still perfect. That might not sound like very long, but it’s better than any OPI or Essie manicure I’ve ever given myself.
Redeeming Love is one of my all-time favorite books. I read it every couple of years and just finished reading it again. If you’ve never read it, you must. Immediately. If you have read it, then you know why I love it and you should think about reading it again. And again and again.
homemade taco seasoning
I’ve been making my own taco seasoning for several years now. It’s much cheaper than store bought and, in my opinion, tastes better (I discussed my thoughts on homemade versus store bought products here and here). I use this simple recipe from smashed peas and carrots to make my taco seasoning; I’m guessing you already have all the ingredients in your kitchen.

As a teacher, I’m on my feet all.day.long. I hate the idea of sacrificing fashion for comfort, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to keep my dogs happy at the end of the day. Hoping that I wouldn’t have to resort to making that sacrifice, I bought myself a pair of TOMS flats last month for my birthday. Knowing that regular TOMS are the only shoes I can wear all day and be comfortable in, I was hopeful. And rightfully so, because I love my new flats.
They’re a little more expensive than most shoes I buy, but after pricing several brands of good quality but unattractive shoes, I decided to go for it. If you decide to get a pair, though, I would suggest ordering a half size bigger than you normally wear.
